Concrete Spheres

Concrete spheres have become so so very popular in the word of garden art and architectural accents.  Dave Reierson an artist from Fort Lauderdale, FL sent these photos to me.  Weather you are using these spheres as a display of art or to simply add some style to your home or garden- his ideas and finishes are a great inspiration.  I personally like the concept of the black sphere with the high gloss ( for use indoors or outdoors.) Oh and the green palms in the background look great with the black concrete.

1)      History Stones 10″ 12″ 15″ molds-   Reusable plastic molds for these spheres

2)      White mortar mix (white cement and white sand)

3)      High quality integral colors (powder)

4)      High gloss acrylic sealer

5)      Some creative techniques of his own

Here are some other colorful options!  You can pour the sphere in two halves and mortar them together to create globes as pictured above.  Or you can insert PVC or other plastic objects into the mold when you are pouring to create a bowl or center as listed below.  I talked to a man by the name of Fritz Currie who placed 3″ diameter PVC down the center of one half so that he could drop in tiki torch lanterns (less than $5 at Lowes or Home Depot) to create his own Tiki torches with the half spheres or full spheres on the bases.
